Meghan Hutton, B.M. in Piano Performance
I grew up in a musical home. My father was the music director at our church, my mother plays various wind instruments, and both of my grandmothers are pianists/organists. Piano lessons were not optional for my sisters and I. Although we were "forced" to take lessons, my father said he would never force us to play in church. I decided to do that on my own terms around the age of 14 when I started playing keyboard on the worship team. A couple years later, I also began singing and playing the guitar on the team as well. I did a summer internship under my father at the church in 2011 and was brought on staff as the youth worship leader that fall and I am still on staff there today.
My very first piano student came about when a mother at the church approached me after one of the services asking if I would teach her daughter to play, and from that first student, a passion grew for teaching music. I developed a true love for the piano during my time at Old Dominion University studying under Dr. Amanda Halstead. I am a firm believer in always being a student, so I have since studied under many fabulous instructors to constantly improve my own skills.

I am part of the Music Teacher's National Association and Tidewater Music Teacher's Forum, allowing my students to be able to participate in various festivals, events, and recitals throughout the year. Graduates of Hutton Music Studios have gone on to study music in college, including receiving scholarships, and pursing careers in music.
